Golf in a country like India is considered to be a game for elitist as it is inaccessible for the majority of the aspiring golf players who belong to the middle-class Indian society. Anirban Lahiri 


Golfer Anirban Lahiri is the pride of the nation when it comes to the game of golf in today’s time. The 32-year old Indian professional golfer currently plays on the European Tour, Asian Tour and PGA Tour. Lahiri registered his first win in 2011 at the Panasonic Open, which was followed by another win at the SAIL-SBI Open in the very next year. However, his biggest breakthrough was when he got qualified for the maiden major tournament at the 2012 open Championship at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lancashire in North West England. In the year 2013, Anirban Lahiri golfer achieved two titles and broke into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking. 


Jeev Milkha Singh


Jeev Milkha Singh is one of the eminent Indian golf players who also happens to be the son of Milkha Singh, the renowned Indian Olympic athlete. Jeev Milkha Singh became the first Indian golfer to play on the European Tour. As a professional Indian golf player, Jeev has earned many prestigious achievements and awards, and has played an instrumental role to take the Indian golf ahead. In the 2008 European Tournament, he achieved 12th ranking position and in 2006 he became the first Indian to enter the list of the top 100  of the Official World Golf Ranking. The Government of India awarded him with the Padma Shri in the year of 2007.


Jyoti Randhawa


Born in the year 1972, Jyoti Randhawa is an Indian professional golf player. He currently plays on the European and Asian tour. Jyoti Randhawa golf player made it to the top of the Asian Tour money lists in the year 2002. After emerging as the winner of the national sub-junior title in the year 1986, he started playing golf as a profession. He achieved victory twice at the prestigious tournament like the Hero Honda Masters Championship in 1988 and 1999. In the year 2002, Randhawa became the first Indian to win the order of the Merit title in Asia. 


Aditi Ashok


Recognised as one of the talented woman golf players in India, Aditi Ashok also happens to be the youngest professional Indian golfers. She was born on 29 March, 1998. Aditi won the Laila Aicha Tour School and became the first Indian to achieve the Ladies European Tour card in 2016. Post this victory, she also became the youngest winner of a Q school for an International tour. Aditi Ashok is the first and sole Indian golfer who has played the Asian Youth Games (2013), Asian Games (2014), Youth Olympic Games (2014) and Olympic Games (2016). On achieving triumph in the 2016 Hero Women's Indian Open, Aditi became the first-ever Indian to win the Ladies European Tour title. In 2017, Aditi Ashok became the first LPGA player from India who finished eighth in the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year standings.


Sharmila Nicollet


The Indo-French professional golfer from India, Sharmila Nicollet is one of the top woman golfers in the country. She has represented India in the Asian Games at Doha in the year 2006, She also played in the Asia Pacific Junior Golf Tournament. In 2007-2008, Sharmila Nicollet became the youngest female golf player to win the All-India Ladies Amateur Championship. Nicollet emerged as the champion of the Hero KGA Tournament in 2012 and Hero WPGT in 2015. In 2012, she became the youngest Indian golf player to qualify for the Ladies European Tour with a full tour card.
