Tips To Plan Your Next Trip With Senior Citizens

by Namah Corbett Namah, Jim Corbett

As we know that there are no Age Limits for Travel. But as we get old, we try to walk less. In such a case, if any of our Senior Citizens Relatives have to travel here and there for their children or Grandchildren, it becomes very hectic for them. Generally, they usually plan their travel before as they have to foresee many things due to their age. You can book resorts in Corbett national park in advance if visiting Nainital. They need to take their medicines properly and on time. They should be kept in extreme conditions, much hot or much cold weather, etc. In such a case for a Frequent Senior Citizen Travelers, we have jotted down some tips which are very useful while they take frequent flights.

1.    Assign a Relative to help with Reservations
It’s a good thing that one relative can quickly make travel reservations and coordinate in getting Frequent Flyer Credit for Senior Citizens. There are various Awards Programs launched by Airlines Companies which allows users to onboard their Family Member accounts with Single-Sign on Facility. You can check Jim Corbett national park packages for best prices.

2.    Prefer Booking A Non-Stop Flight
When booking an outing, direct flights are firmly favoured over connecting flights so as to be connected with our near ones and to reduce the travel time as journeys are always tiring. Book a direct flight regardless of whether it implies a higher cost or even the airport terminal is far away from your home. Avoid booking Private and Small Jet Planes as most airports don’t offer Jet-Bridge which is necessary for Senior Citizens.

3.    Dig Out For Senior Citizens Discounted Flights
Many airlines offer Discount Fares on Senior Citizens Flight Booking but make sure you don’t subscribe to additional services. Sometimes, flight carriers offer discounts but in addition to that, offer you insurance Services, Lottery Offers, which ultimately costs your ticket more or less the last-minute prices. There is an additional pass for Senior Citizens offered by private Airlines.

4.    Check for Disability Options During Booking
You should always pick those airlines who offer disability options along with In-Person Assistance Options. In this option, there is a Cabin Crew which take care of Senior Citizens from Onboarding Gate till Destination Exit Points. They normally charge small fees for this service and are available with few airlines.

5.    Right Time Travel
Another recommendation is that travel promptly toward the beginning of the day or at night can be exhausting for Senior Citizens. They usually prefer Mid-Morning or Early Afternoon Departures. During the early morning, they usually prefer going to temple or resting at home.

6.    Travel with Family
It is always recommended to travel with near and dear ones as there can be language difficulties or can be confused easily by Customs & Immigration Forms, they required to fill if they were on International Travel. We should never rely on Airlines Services as we are never sure how they treat our Old Age Relatives.

7.    Take Sufficient Medicines
This tip applies to all travellers, not simply Senior Citizens. Never place significant Medicines in checked Baggage. They can carry those medicines in a small bag and can place in near their seat in Flight. They can also take up a list of prescriptions so that in case of any emergency on flight, any doctor can be arranged and he can diagnose them with proper information about their treatment.

8.    Wheelchair Request& Choosing Right Line at Security
Senior Citizens generally require a wheelchair at the airport that is usually provided to them at the gate. This is also very important as they are in their old age won’t be able to walk or run to catch the last-minute flight. Senior Citizens get special privilege for a security check while going through a separate line. This makes the Check-in Process faster and easier for them.

Apart from these tips, there are various websites who have travel packages for Senior Citizens, especially for disabled and needy ones. So, next time when you plan for their travel do these above points for the Airline carrier you are booking flight, If they are rendering such services at affordable rates, then no doubt book the ticket immediately.
