Three Ways To Boost Computer Speed

by Chayne Moling Blogger, SEO, Internet Marketer

Even if you have a high-end computer, you can end up running it at very slow speeds due to several factors. If you think it is not the computer hardware that is causing the problem, it might be other factors like viruses, corrupt programs, and other software-related issues.

Clean Up Your System

This is very basic tip that most people do not bother to do on a regular basis. First of all,  many computer users do not know how to clean their units. Emptying the recycle bin is not enough. There are other junk files in your system that you cannot find on the recycle bin. Some of them are found in the registry, while others are in the browser cache.

When you visit websites, your browser saves a temporary copy of the sites on file. These can be cleaned by clearing the browsing data on your primary browser. However, this is not enough. You still have to deal with junk registry files  that have accumulated due to the removal of unused applications and programs.

The best way to clean your system is to use a third party software. CCleaner is a good example. It is free and very powerful to use. It can be used to clean junk files and registry files, as well as uninstall computer software.

Free Up Disk Space

This is another common tip that most people usually neglect. Remember that your computer's operating system, as well as other programs installed in your unit, require a minimum amount of free HDD space to work efficiently. You should have at least 5GB of free disc space to avoid performance problems. Hence, if your HDD is quite full, transfer big files like videos, images, and installers onto an external drive.

Tune Up Your PC

There are other factors that may interfere with computer speed, but they are not usually easily spotted or determined. However, there are several programs online that you can use to determine these issues. TuneUp Utilities is one good example. It is usually recommended for Windows users because it can spot problems with the way the operating system is configured, what computer parts need to be upgraded, and the like.

Yes, the program does not come for free, but you can still make use of it without paying anything by using the free trial version. However, if you do not want to be contacting a computer technician and paying him or her every time you experience performance problems, you can get a premium version of the software instead.
