Things I love about Jaipur

by Jayden Smith Blogger

Last February, after much dilly-dallying, I finally fixed my holiday and booked a Jaipur city tour package. And the trip was MAGICAL, to say the least! I had obviously done a ton of research before starting out (I mean, how can you not! There is so much information on the Internet about the city) and to be frank; I was braced for disappointment because I knew I was expecting too much. But right from my first drive through the crowded city centre to the hotel I was hooked – the pulsating energy and the riot of colours framed by the city’s architecture were mesmerizing!

My Jaipur city tour package was just for a few days, but three things about Jaipur really remained in my heart –

  • My first look at Amber Fort

One of the most visited forts, this sandstone and marble structure made me finally understand the word majestic! Our Jaipur city tour had already given us a round of the city palace, Hawa Mahal and more on the first day and frankly I was pretty exhausted with all the walking and the tourists, but reaching Amber Fort early next day paid off and my first glimpse of it felt as if I had been transported back in time to when it housed Rajput warriors, and their kings and queens.

  • Afternoon at Tripolia Bazaar

I love shopping, so I was looking forward to this trip, but this was more than just shopping it was an experience! The bazaar has a traditional aura and is a lovely place to get hold of a piece of Jaipur to take back home – my bag is full of lac jewellery!

  • Dinner at Chokhi Dhani

On our final night, the Jaipur city package included dinner at Chokhi Dhani, and it provided a happy (and yummy) end to our holiday. We managed to sample a huge variety of traditional Rajasthani delicacies in one meal! The food, needless to say, was delicious, but what made it even more special was the love it was served with.

Jaipur is so rich in culture and colour that I defy anyone NOT to fall in love with the city and its vibe. I know I am hooked for life and I honestly can’t wait to explore more of the city and Rajasthan as a whole.
