The Rise of M-Commerce and the On-Demand Economy

Shopping for groceries and other items has never been convenient, especially with the advent of the internet. With only a few quick clicks, you are able to make an online purchase. Initially online shopping was reserved for desktops or laptops but with the advent of smartphones, smartphones are literally giving the two a run for their money in shopping. For example in the UK, a study conducted by Interactive Media in Retail Group established that majority of the sales in online stores were done through tablets and smartphones. In addition, both the Amazon and Walmart Company on occasions have attributed a large portion of orders placed to mobile shoppers than on desktop or laptop shoppers.

Two conspicuous reasons given why many shoppers are increasingly adopting mobile shopping is because of their general affordability and convenience. For the full potential of mobile shopping to be enhanced for shoppers, there is a need for a greater improvement in the transaction processes, making it simpler and secure.Similarly, mobile making companies have to invest in even larger enough screens for checkout processes in placing an order.

There are a number of online shopping platforms available to choose from no matter where you are as long as you can access the internet and you have a purchasing power.For example, to shop online in India for the latest and trendiest clothing,bags, shoes and accessories, there are a number of online stores including Myntra, Stalkbuylove.com and Jabong.

The on-demand economy for online shopping on mobile. In fact the delivery means and options is an area which has contributed a lot to online shopping. Most shoppers like me usually after placing an order; you would want a convenient means of delivery. This is an area with a great potential and is still expanding. Most of the large retailers through cooperation with existing logistic companies are establishing their own delivery channels. Nevertheless there is also a growing niche of popular startups delivery companies like Instacart and UberRush. For example with Instacart, founded in 2012, mobile online shoppers are able to place and order for groceries by using a mobile-friendly web application from a number of stores. Your goods would then be delivered in the shortest time possible by a personal shopper.

Becoming a personal shopper or independent contractor with Instacart is easy with only a few requirements and you are a part-time employee. For example, you must have an access to a reliable and an effective transport vehicle and be able to lift 30-40lbs.

In conclusion, the further growth of online mobile shopping and that of the on-demand economy are predicted by various industry forecasts to be enhanced over the next couple of years. This would only mean good for the online mobile shopper.
