The basic idea of the umbilical system for offshore applications

Subsea
umbilical
The subsea umbilical is
used as the vital supplier and the control management that links the top side
vessel with the equipment beneath the sea. At first umbilical offshore could
go as much as 2km deep into the sea, but with the advancement of technology, it
can go up to 3km and hopefully it will go much deeper in the future. The length
of the umbilical varies upon the function and the field layout, where some have
been manufactured to travel up to 200km.
You can find several
types of umbilical and the requirements can change according to certain
situations. An umbilical cable consists of several electrical and fiber optics
cables that are arranged systematically.
Primary functions
- Chemical injection to ensure that
the flow is alright
- Sending electrical signals
- Valve controlling and monitoring
- Hydraulic pressure for keeping
number accurate at the hydraulic pressure
- Sending electricity underneath for
pumping
- Fiber optics for data monitoring
An umbilical can either
be designed for the static or dynamic services wherein both conditions, high
tension load is felt during the installation. During the static installation,
the tubes are laid or trenched into the seabed, but in the dynamic
installation, the tube floats with the vessel.
Electrical
winch
Also known as anchor
windless, the electrical anchor winch helps you to raise and
lower the ship’s or boat’s anchor using the electricity or a remote. Today this
is the most cost-effective method to deck your boat smoothly without any risks.
Advantages of anchor windless
- It is designed to handle a
considerable amount of weight
- This device will enable you to
pull a heavyweight anchor with minimum effort
- Takes a little time to raise the
anchor above
- Different designs are available to
meet different requirements
- You won’t have to much space as
the windless can be installed on the deck or the space below the deck
- Now remote-controlled windless is also
available that will allow you to operate the anchor from any part of the
boat or ship
Some additional features
- Limit switch
- Manual band brake
- Manual clutch
- Remote controller
- Load calculator
- Manual emergency crank
- Warping head
- Spooling gear
Uses
Whenever you sail out in
the seal for fishing or cruising, you will need an anchor to secure the boat to
make sure it doesn’t move away. Electrical winch or windless will enable you to
anchor your ship or retract it without making too much effort. When your boat
or ship needs to be secured, the windless lower the anchor freely and quickly
to make sure you don’t drift away. When you are ready to move, you can raise
the anchor easily by just pressing the button on the remote control or the
boat. A windless can become very helpful if the weather is not right or it is
too windy.
