What is the MS Office Product Key and Where Can I find it?

Product key is actually the license verifier for you. It is the unique key given to each buyer of the MS Office product. The key identifies you as the authentic buyer of the MS Office product. This Office Product key contains 25 characters which are the combination of various alphanumeric characters. The key is required for the installation of MS Office on your computer. It is also needed to setup your account with Microsoft. When you buy the product, the key can be seen on the card inside the package. If you have bought the product online the key is emailed to you.

MS Office Setup

The installation or reinstallation process of the any version of the MS Office depends upon the type of product you are using. There is MS Office for home and then there is for business. Here, we are outlining the setup process for the MS Office Home.

If you bought the product and installing it for the first time go to the link office.com/setup and have your key redeemed. Now follow these steps:

      -          Visit the link office.com/myaccount

-          Sign in using your Microsoft account credentials

-          If you are a new user you will need to create a new Microsoft account

-          Select ‘Install >’ when you are at My Office Account. By default the 32-bit version of Microsoft Office will get installed on your computer. You will see the language that you selected while redeeming your product. In case you are looking to install the 64-bit version of office then you will need to change the language. You may also choose to install Office 2013 in place of 365. There are ‘Custom’ options available for installation.

-          Depending upon the browser you are using, you will get the popup for installation.  IE will show ‘Run’, Chrome will show ‘Setup’ and Firefox will show ‘Save File’

-          You may see the prompt asking, ‘Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?’

-          Click ‘Yes’

-          This will begin the installation.

-          You will know that installation has completed when you see "You're all set! Office is installed now."

If you already have an existing product but you need to reinstall on a different computer or on the same computer in case you uninstalled it, you can start from Step 1 again.
