Lodge Masonic collars giving an indication of what rank a Freemason holds

Freemasonry is one of the largest fraternal, secular, and charitable organizations in the world. The history of Freemasonry dates back to the days when there were Stone Masons who built the cathedrals around the time of King Solomon. Members of this organization believe in relief, faith, brotherly love, charity, and tolerance. It teaches its members’ moral lessons and self-knowledge through a series of rituals, ceremonies, and plays. New members take oath as a promise for their conduct and services to the society and the Lodge. They also make promises to keep the traditional methods that are used for proving their position as a Freemason and the secrets of Freemasonry which they use while visiting a Lodge in a place that is not known to them.

This organization is not a secret society and anyone is free to join if they qualify the parameters. Like any other group, the Lodge meetings, ceremonies and parties are private and are open to only its members. Members are encouraged to speak freely about Freemasonry and its teachings. Meeting places are known to everyone and in some regions are often used by the local people for activities other than Freemasonry meetings or ceremonies. There is a lot of speculation about this organization because of the use of Masonic symbols, rituals, and insignias. Freemasons wear Masonic regalia for signifying their commitment towards the organization and to what it preaches. Some of the regalia also give an indication of what rank the member holds in the fraternity.

Freemasonry is the journey of gaining knowledge at every step and Freemasons are expected to have a desire for constant learning. As the Mason passes through different stages, they are awarded with different Lodge Masonic Collars. Every time, you see a Masonic collar jewel on any of the Lodge officer, believe that it is surely earned through years of hard work and diligence. The jewel awarded to the highest rank of the Lodge is the Past Master jewel. Masonic jewels are the medals that are usually worn by the brethren to a Freemason’s Lodge. There are mainly two types of Masonic jewels namely breast jewels and collar jewels. Masonic jewels are worn on the left breast of the coat or jacket. Masonic collar and breast jewel is not just the ordinary piece of jewelry instead have high importance and symbolism attached to it. There are various guidelines for Freemasons on how to use and wear these jewels at all times.
