Traditional Thai massage has long been known as a great healer to stress and potential symptoms related to it. Although the Thai massage has its origin back in India as it has a deep association with ancient Ayurvedic principles, it is believed that decades ago when Buddhism arrived in Thailand, carried along with it many such healing practices – Thai massage was one of them.

The Four Principles of Thai Massage :

1) Start from the extremities and move to the core of the body and again back to the extremities – The reason for this can be explained in terms of energy through the meridians, but may also be comprehended in terms of circulation of blood and lymph, helping drainage of the extremities.

2) Start from the bottom and move to the top – The reason for this has its association with the ancient yogic belief that the energy is purified as you move from feet straight up to the head.

3) Perform meridian work first followed by joint mobilization and then yogic stretching – This rule is followed so that the clients are warmed up before they are expecting to stretch their limbs.

4) Give a balanced massage – Remember that the entire body should be massaged adequately to maintain the balance of energy flow. That said, the steps that you perform to one section of the body, you should perform to the other. For example, if you are performing foot massage, you should massage the hands too in order to bring the balance.

Any such energy imbalances might result into your client isn't happy or still feels tiring after the massage.
