Kurti, An Enchanting Garment

Indian Kurtis is in high demand by fashionable ladies. Kurtis are derived from traditional long kurtas. Kurtis are very popular nowadays because of its charming look. They can be worn as casual as well as party wear. Designer Kurtis is commonly party wear. This outfit goes nicely with salwar to churidar to leggings and even with jeans or palazzo. Kurtis are thus very much loved by the teenagers to elderly persons.

(a)      Indian Kurti, a new addition to the fashion wardrobe

The Indian fashion industry has redefined the concept of fashion through attractive designs and cuts of the Kurtis. As per the requirements and preference, the style of this garment has changed. Indian Kurti which can be termed as daughter of long kurta was primarily used in the northern states of India. Now it is globally adorned by the women of different age because of its fashionable look and comfort. Every year some experimental designs come to rock the regular models. Long Kurtis to short Kurtis, kurtis with a variety of shapes and cuts of necklines are available in the market. Change in the length of sleeves, border or hemlines is also made to give Indian Kurtis a different look. Cotton, georgette, chiffon, silk, khadi are some of the popular fabrics employed in the making of kurtis.

(b)     Designer Kurtis.

According to the demand, Indian kurti has changed its appearance. Kurtis are named according to the cut and style Colorful and designer kurtis is adored by all. Cikanakari, cut-work, appliqué, embroidery add a decent look to the garment. Stonework or beadwork add modish look to the garment. The bottom part of the Kurtis is symmetrical in regular types, but modern kurtis have asymmetrical cuts at the bottom line.

                 (i)     (i)    Anarkali Kurti

Anarkali Kurti is widely popular due to its ethnic style. It is flare and frock like pattern. Women of any age group like it. Women of any body shape or figure can wear it. Anarkali Kurti commonly has long or three-quarter length sleeves. This designer kurti can be worn in any formal occasion. In a wedding ceremony, this can be the right choice for a woman to look outstanding as it gives an ethnic look to the wearer. This type of kurti matches well with a churidar or a legging of the same color or contrast color.

               (ii)     (ii)    A-line kurti.

Another type of kurti is A-Line Kurti with tie-up at the waist. These also have long sleeves or three-quarter sleeves. It gives a slender look to the wearer. This kurti is also paired up well with a legging or churidar.

(iii)    Front Slit Shirt kurti

This type of kurti has collar like a shirt and open in the front. This is a long- type kurti. This is a well blend of western and Indian traditional fashion. Another type of front slit kurti is available which is like a regular kurti but with a twist. In this type of suit instead of regular side slit there is a front slit. This gives the outfit totally a new look. These are mostly sleeveless. Women of tall height and hourglass body shape or pear-shaped or triangle body shape can go for this type of kurti this attire goes well with palazzo. This outfit is suitable for young as well as middle-aged women .This type of kurti is worn as casual wear and party wear.

(iv)Asymmetrical Kurti

Asymmetrical Kurti is well set for fashion enthusiast women. This kurtis have unique fashion quotient. This type of kurti has lower backside and higher front side cut. This style of kurtis has long, three quarter or glass sleeves. This design looks beautiful and can be styled in many ways. This type of kurti can be paired with palazzos, leggings, jeggings, churidar. This is why it is loved by the college going girls.

             (iii)     (v)     Tail Cut Kurti

Tail Cut Kurti is also available in which back is a bit longer than front side than that of regular asymmetrical kurtis. This kurti has long or three quarter or glass sleeves. This kurti is teamed up well with palazzos, chooridar, leggings, jeggings or pencil cut pants. A woman of good figure like a pear-shaped body, triangle shaped body, tall or petite will look fantastic in this outfit. These can be worn on a special occasion or small gatherings.

              (iv)     (vi)    Handkerchief Hemline Kurti

Handkerchief hemline kurti is one of the latest design available. This trendy outfit is ideal for summer. This design is chic and elegant. The hemline opens up on both the sides adding a little bounce in the look of the garment. These are mostly sleeveless. This kurti matches well with jeggings or leggings or anything of full length. This type can be the right choice as daily wear and also for a formal set up. Women of young age to middle age can wear this.

                (v)     (vii)    High –Low kurti

This type of kurti comes under the asymmetrical bucket. These do not have a definition and have a straight hemline. Young to middle-aged women of any body shape can opt it. This is a casual wear. It goes well with a full or ankle length jeans, jeggings or treggings.

(viii)    Poncho or Kaftan kurti

This type of Kurti is airy and comfortable. It can camouflage the unflattering flab if any. This is a daily use outfit and goes well with leggings. Young to middle-aged women can wear this.

              (vi)     (ix)    Straight Cut Pintuck Kurti

Pintuck detailing is an elegant design element. It gives charm to the outfit. And also provide a sophisticated look to it. It made of cotton, handlooms or chanderi. Young to middle-aged women can wear it. A person with pear-shaped body, triangle shaped body, hourglass-shaped body, tall or petite can wear this kurti. This paired well with straight cut pant, palazzo or culottes.

            (vii)     (x)    Short peplum kurti

Short peplum kurtis are of Indo- western design. This is liked by the women who love classy and chic style. This designed well with a long sleeve. This can be teamed up with dhoti pant, long skirts or jeans. This is a casual as well as party wear.
