Know How Dehumidifiers are Important and Know It’s Features
Dehumidifiers are household machines, generally used in industries also, whose role is to decrease the level of humidity in the atmosphere or to banish musty odor around the place where it is used. The musky odor or high humidity levels can be the cause of molds, corrosion of iron or other health hazards also.
Following are some of the notable features of a dehumidifier which should be looked for before buying a dehumidifier:
1. Pint capacity of the machine:
A pint is a measuring unit in which the capacity of the dehumidifier to remove the moisture from the surroundings is measured in 24 hours’ time. To decide on the print size for your dehumidifier depends on the size of the area you want to cover as well as the level of moisture that is prevalent in the atmosphere. For residential purposes, the pint capacity considered proper is less than 70 points and for commercial purposes more than 70 points.
2. Collection tank or bucket capacity:
An internal tank or bucket attached to a dehumidifier to collect the moisture from the surrounding is a collection tank or bucket. The role of this collection tank in a dehumidifier is to gather the moisture in which, later on, has to be emptied physically. Most dehumidifiers have the option with an auto-shut feature where the dehumidifier automatically shuts down once the tank is full. Some other commercial dehumidifiers have the feature of removal of the collected water directly draining them out through drain pipes or gravity.
3. Humidistat /hydrostat:
An instrument that measures the relative humidity in the atmosphere and sends back the data to the humidifier is called a humidistat. Accordingly, the settings in the dehumidifier are set to maintain the humidity level in the area where the dehumidifier is placed. Depending upon the model chosen, the humidistat comes with the dehumidifier or if not, it can be purchased separately.
4. Operational feature at low temperature:
This is a feature found on models that are created especially for low temperatures areas like basements. There are models available in the market that are workable in less than 30 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures.
5. Controls of the dehumidifier:
In the advanced technological world, even the dehumidifiers are not left behind, as most of the models are equipped with electronic controls and very few options are available with manual controls. The difference that sets them apart is that the electronic controls have buttons whereas the manual controls have dials. It is also to be kept in mind that during a power cut-off, an electronic controlled dehumidifier has to restarted manually as opposed to manually controlled dehumidifier.
6. Caster wheels’ feature:
This is one option that is available in most all the models of dehumidifiers be it residential or commercial dehumidifier. This feature enables the users of the machine to transport it from one place to the other easily and without any discomfort.
Such and some more notable features are what make up a dehumidifier worth investing!
