How to Upgrade or Convert the Company File to a New QuickBooks Desktop Version?

Before you upgrade the company file, look over these important reminders.

•      The QuickBooks company file can just be updated by the admin user.
•          It is not suggested to upgrade the company file over a network.
•         Once a company file has been updated or converted into the new version, you will not be able to open it in previous one.
•         QuickBooks Pro or premier company file upgraded or converted to Enterprise edition would no longer open in the previous version.
•         Enterprise company files just function in QB desktop computer Enterprise edition.

Solution

Here are some of the steps to upgrade the previous version of QB company file to Newer version:-

•          Open the latest QuickBooks Desktop updated version.
•       Navigate to the “File” tab, & select the “Open or Restore Company” tab.
•        Select the “Open a company file” option.
•        Hit onto the “Next” tab.
•        Choose the “data file” tab & click on the “Open” icon.

Note: If the Relocate Company File window shows up, comply with the directions shown.

•         Check out the information in the Update Company File for New Variation pane.
•        Tick the box to signify you comprehend, and then choose Update now.
•         Follow the instructions on how to back up your file. Note where you save your file.
•        When you are about to open up a company file using a more recent variation of QuickBooks ... Do you want to proceed? Shows up, just click on Yes.

Recommended Once the file is upgraded:-

•         Create a copy of the file in the computer it was originally copied from if the file was copied from a different computer.
