What Is Malware?

Malware is defined as Software which is specially designed for damaging or destroying your PC or Computer System.

This content will guide you step by step to remove malware from your WordPress if you follow this guide I guarantee that you will be benefited from this content. However, you must have to gain some knowledge about FTP and Cpanel File Manager. You have to try hard to solve it out. Let's follow the steps.

Step 1: Scan Your Computer

There are many ways to become a victim of malware and that’s not good for your WordPress. So I recommend you to scan your computer first. Don’t know which antivirus will be the best for scanning your PC so I recommend you to use some popular antivirus like AVG [Free] and Kaspersky. Sometimes it happens if your computer is affected with the virus and you don’t know but you still kept storing data then your whole data will be involved with virus or malware. Make sure Your computer is Virus free first.

Step 2: Change Your FTP/Cpanel Password

As your Computer is now risk-free. So you need to change your FTP & Cpanel Password to remove WordPress malware. Make sure your password is strong enough so that no one can crack it. Use some upper and lower case latter and some special character

Step 3: Download WordPress Again & Extract It

Download the WordPress again from WordPress website and extract it. When done with that leave those file as it is. We will come to that file later.

Step 4 : Removeing Malware From Your Cpanel / FTP Account

Now login to your cpanle account then go to file manager then you will be seeing your directories [ file manager > httdocs > your file] httdocs click there then select all except wp-content Folder & wp-config.php . Now Delete everything except wp-contentFolder & wp-config.php .

You will be seeing your file like this in your cpanel .
wp-admin
wp-content
wp-includes
index.php
license.txt
readme.html
wp-activate.php
wp-blog-header.php
wp-comments-post.php

wp-cron.php
wp-links-opml.php
wp-load.php
wp-login.php
wp-mail.php
wp-settings.php

After deleting the selected file you will be seeing your remaining file like this.

wp-config.php

In your cPanel file File Manager, click on wp-config.php and edit the file. Make sure there are no strange codes or anything unusual codes. If this wp-config.php file is affected then it will generally look like a long string of random text. For your safety, i recommend you to compare it with the wp-config-sample.php file to be sure.

Now go to your theme file clicking on it. The visual will like this
plugins
themes
uploads
index.php

Now make a list of the plugin which you are using currently, then remove the index.php and the plugin folder. You will need to reinstall that plugin after cleaning process.

Next process is to delete the Theme folder. Make sure you have that themes in your backup.

Step 5: Re-Upload Your Fresh WordPress

Now time to upload your fresh WordPress [To remove WordPress Malware]
via using FTP [FileZila] which you have extracted before.

Step 6: Remove Google Warning

I call this step as a final step of the process because you have updated your WordPress, not the google warning. So you need to update that warning too [“This site may harm your computer” ]. So here you go Login to your Google Webmaster Tool add your site click Health and then click Malware. and finally, Request a review.

That’s it once Google Review Your Website then You are done. Please share if you feel you are benefited from this article.
