How to protect your home from internet thieves?

by Rizwan Khan Professional Interior Designer

What do they do?

Internet thieves are some who steals your identity online by scamming or any other way which ultimately results in loss of personal and confidential information, like username, password, credit card number, any bank information etc. The internet thieves collect all these information and use them in committing frauds and crime that would not only lead to your data loss but would also hamper you financially.

How they do that?

There are multiple ways by which online thieves can steal all your data just like the thieves in real life. The only difference between them is that online thieves are much smarter and they follow techniques like phishing or scamming which are tough to understand for the common people. Downloading malware on your devices from any non-trusted source, using of insecure wireless networks, punching your credit card to a scam ATM machine, everything can cause the internet thieves to get hold of your personal and financial information present over the internet provided by the high-speed internet broadband service provider.

Protective Measures

If you are alert and know the following process to prevent getting yourself scammed or hacked, then you would be very safe in the online world. All you need to do is, be alert about all the information that you are giving over the internet provided by internet service provider in Mumbai as well as others and follow the given suggestions:

Always keep your computer and mobile phones protected by updating them with security software which would also prevent them from getting infected by any malware. Also be sure about the fact that the updated operating system has been fully installed.

Be alert and try to identify the scam- sometimes, it is really easy to identify the scam e-mails sent to us, however sometimes the scam sent through IMs, social networking sites or any website looks legitimate but they are not. One way to safeguard yourself from these thieves is by not clicking on the given links. You can go directly to the website from where the link claims to have been sent and from there, you can go to the option of your choice.

Use a strong password- for any transaction or interaction online, we have to get ourselves registered on the concerned website where we do need a password. One of the main mistakes that many people make is by keeping the easy and guessable password. You should always keep a password that is really hard to guess even by your nearest ones and it must be a complex combination of letters and numbers which you should only remember.

Use the reputed website- We can buy anything and everything from online websites. But before buying remember that you have to enter your bank details on that website for transacting with them. So make sure, that the website is legitimate and a reputed one before giving them any of your details. This would surely protect you from fraud.
