How to Improve Your Productivity in a Virtual Office Space?

by Vikrant Sinha Marketing Consultant
Coworking spaces are a phenomenal change that has occurred in the world of doing business. Such a shared space is best to share information and knowledge, work on private projects, as well as exchange innovative ideas. Sharing an office among young entrepreneurs as well as freelancers is a concept that is innovative as well as creative. While it is true that working amidst vibrant, energetic, and knowledgeable people can have an impact on the productivity, there are noisy distractions. You should be able to avoid getting diverted by conversations of other people around you and small events like an announcement being made for the employees of a particular company. Here’s a list of ways you can gain all the benefits of a virtual office space and be productive:

Be self-disciplined and accountable - It’s easy to get distracted in an environment where there are a lot of activities happening all around. These could be enough to distract you from achieving the goal of the day. You ought to be self-disciplined to be able to attain your goals. Keep a list of the tasks for the day and focus on completing that one-by-one. Be strict about your working hours and do not leave for home unless you complete. This will keep you active and motivated.

Focus on the end-product -  Whatever project you take up, focus on the end results. This will keep you motivated and interested in completing that particular work. Moreover, knowing why you are doing a particular work as well as enjoying whatever you are doing will make the work less laborious. This will ensure faster completion of work and better end-results. Understanding the motive behind certain work will also help to make things easier for you.

Take breaks between works - Human brain needs rest to be fully functional. So, while working in a co working space, you need to take regular short breaks between works. You may even take long breaks on certain days. Most of the virtual offices have a pantry or a common area where you can catch-up with a co worker or can have a cup of coffee.  Some people even take small, power naps to further energize themselves for better performance.

Reward yourself on completion - If you are an independent freelancer choosing to work in an office space for rent, there is no one to reward you on a success. So, reward yourself! As you finish a difficult project successfully, treat yourself to a sumptuous lunch or a coffee at the pantry or from a restaurant nearby. This should make you feel worthy and efficient. It is a good thing to reward you for every achievement.

Plan your work well - It is easy for a lone freelancer to get swept away by the excitement and distractions all around. Thus, you may end up wasting a lot of time, which you can spend in something productive. To avoid such things you should plan ahead of time. Make a list of the things you are going to complete for the day. Do not spend much time in non-trivial tasks. There could be certain not-so-important tasks, for which too you should keep time. Otherwise, those small tasks could pile up.

In addition to all these things, you should make it a point to keep things around you interesting. Boredom can kill productivity. That is the reason you must make it a point to keep the events of your day flexible and interesting. Moreover, working in a clean and tidy space has a lot of benefits.
