  • FHIR stands for Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, a set of online technologies bundled with HL7.


  • SMART Health IT is an open, standards-based technology platform that allows individuals to design apps to operate in a healthcare system, such as HCE (HealthCare Executive).


Types of EHR Systems:


1. Physician-hosted System:


Physician-hosted systems imply that all data is stored on a physician's servers, implying that a doctor is responsible for the acquisition of hardware and software and the ongoing maintenance and security of the data kept on their servers.


2. Remotely-hosted System:


Remotely-hosted systems move data storage away from the provider and third party. This instance should be in charge of upkeep, data backup, and security.


This sort of solution shifts the burden for data security away from a single doctor or medical practice.


3. Remote Systems:


The three different types of remote systems are as follows:


Subsidized: 


A subsidized system indicates a partnership with an institution that covers the cost of an EHR. Typically, a doctor establishes this partnership with a hospital, which reviews the data and resolves data ownership concerns.


Dedicated: 


A dedicated host system means that providers store EHRs on a vendor's servers. These servers are frequently located in certain areas. With this architecture, a provider cannot manage the majority of the data storage functions.


Cloud:


A cloud or internet-based computer system is one of the most common remote EHR solutions. Doctors are not required to preserve data on their servers; instead, they are stored "in the cloud" by a supplier. This implies that the data is always stored in a secure location on the Internet and is accessible through the provider's website.
