Does paying for in-home tuition really make a difference?

by Dee S. TUTOR

The question usually comes about when parents realise that their child is having significant difficulties acquiring a passing grade. By then, it's clear that their child has some deficiencies in their learning, or knowledge gaps, that are affecting their progress.

Knowledge gaps persist through all years of learning

If a knowledge gap is not remedied, this can very quickly perpetuate as the child progresses through school, lacking the fundamental knowledge which only widens the gap. As a teacher, it was not uncommon for me to meet students who would make it to their senior years without fundamental knowledge necessary for success in subjects at a senior level.

It's not only academic

This is an emotional journey too. Students who see constant failure give up, and how can we blame them? Students who receive a strong learning foundation are less likely to see true failure frequently. This is not to say that they won't EVER see failure, however, we want the mistakes to be learning journeys, not immensely high brick walls that can not be traversed.

If your child is still in their early education career and not seeing success...tuition may be your answer.

professional tutor maybe your child's chance of developing a growth mindset they will receive support and guidance through their learning mistakes and be able to look up to a successful mentor. The learning journey for ANY skill is a long road, a person will never achieve mastery until they have worked very hard to achieve it. This is something students struggle within the day and age of instant gratification.
