Crane Inspection, A Decision Of A Gentleman

by Ella Smith Self Employed
Moving heavy and oversized loads from one location to another is a quite difficult and complex task for fleet managers, construction workers and industrial site labourers. Selecting the appropriate equipment according to a project work is very important. What’s more important is to keep that equipment in tip-top condition so that it stays functional. So how is this possible?

Ensuring that your hauling equipment for engineering functions to its fullest capacity can be done by hiring an inspection team. Yes, of course, you are the perfect man in your project work who knows how to get things done. But hiring an inspection team will upgrade you to the topmost spot above all your competitors. The inspection pros are trained and have the knowledge to determine what equipment and machinery will provide the best functionality in your working site. They are a team of qualified inspectors who would help you decide on different variations under the categories of cranes, bulldozers, forklifts, excavators and much more.

Among these categories, crane is a type of machinery which needs the most of the inspection. The pulleys and the cables that are used to lift and lower materials are the most problem-prone areas. Crane maintenance is a very important aspect to ensure the safety of the equipment as well as the people around it. Before starting your project, preventive checks must be carried out to verify all parts of the crane are in working order. The checks include various essentials mentioned in the rigging and mechanical checklists. Apart from these basic checks, there are 60 other checks that would be conducted depending on the type of crane.

Rigging checklist includes inspection of the head section of the crane, rope termination, winches and drives, pulleys and other rotating elements, gearboxes and torque converters, hydraulic cylinders, load weight indicator and engine shut down service.

Mechanical checklist includes inspection of brakes, headlights & tail lights, rollover protection, orange beacon, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, seat belts and auto fire suppression attachments.
Rigging inspection is very crucial as the workers involved with rigging are responsible for other people’s lives who are working there. An uninspected crane is always an avoidable equipment in a construction or industrial site. Make sure you have an electrocution preventative system in your crane.

A crane inspection can save you thousands of dollars by preventing potential accident compensations and re-purchase of expensive equipment for your inventory. Crane inspection can prevent your worksite from experiencing complete shutdown as well.
