Often vastu experts recommend north facing house vastu over the other orientations for ensuring better vastu. But does it mean that there can be no major defect in the north facing properties?

As per vastu shastra, the main gate placement determines a lot of the overall vastu of any property. There are 8 padas in each side of the vastu, including north facing house vastu.

Only in the north side, there are 4 positive padas. The rest of the padas are negative but it the good news is, these are all minor in nature. It means none of these negative padas trigger any major defects. With easy remedies you can easily correct these defects 100 %.

However it does not imply that north facing house vastu can have no severe defect at all. The main gate placement is very important indeed but that is not all. The floor plan of the property must be designed as per the rules of vastu shastra.

There can be few arrangements in the vastu that can trigger major defects and we have listed few of them for better understanding.

i.                     Toilet in the north east or south west- the north east zone is Ishan zone and south west is the pitra zone. It must never be used to place the toilet since it can result in severe ailments and separation in the family respectively.

ii.                   Kitchen in the north east or south west zones- for the same reason, placing the fire element in Ishan and pitra zone can trigger severe defects.

iii.                 Kitchen or toilet in the Brahmasthan- the centremost zone of the vastu is called its Brahmasthan and it must be kept free of any structure or room. Placing temple or kitchen in here can trigger severe instability and stomach related issues in the problem. For same reason placing staircase in this zone is forbidden as well.

iv.                 Cut in the north east or south west zones- if inside the north facing house vastu the zones of south west or north east are cut then it can trigger some serious issues for the residents.

v.                   Using non vastu compliant colors- there is a specific guideline for using colors and any violation in it can also bring some major issues for the family.
