Best Goa beaches you must visit

by Joy Martin Tech and Travels Consultant

When you visit Goa, all will have thoughts in your mind about the scenic beaches that offer some of the best sights ever. Beaches are a paradise for travellers. Goa is divided into two regions: North Goa, the party place, and South Goa packed with serenity. Soak in the wondrous beauty of the region, walk through the sand on the beach and watch the sunset with your beloved enjoy the colourful hue filled in the atmosphere. Spend some time around the beaches or head out for a fort exploration. At night it's time to party!

Even though it is one of the tiniest states in India, it offers plenty of beautiful beaches. Stretching along the shoreline of Arabian Sea on the west side just south of Mumbai, Goa offers a variety of beaches to gratify any holiday style. Whatever may be the priority, be it relaxing, partying or enduring culture, Goa has beaches to satisfy all travellers.

Following is a list of beaches to visit in Goa:

  1. Palolem: It is a crescent-shaped and palm bordered, it is a beach that has white sand and pleasant views. This beach offers a wide variety of activities such as beautiful walks and interesting boat rides. There are an array of beach huts to stay in and restaurants in which to sample the local seafood.

  2. Patnem: It just takes 10 mins walk from the bustling Palolem beach, Patnem is the perfect spot for relaxation in a pleasant environment. Patnem offers both peace-minded and party freak: it is position in between two cliffs that creates a different feeling of calm, at the same time you can endure the exciting nightlife. This is the ideal beach for a serene shoreline walk.

  3. Mandrem, Morjim and Ashwem: Having obtained a popular fame, Mandrem, Morjim and Ashwem beaches attract travellers who are keen to sip on cocktails in chic bars and restaurants. If a drinking holiday is not your priority, there are many yoga retreats which offer detox and rejuvenating things. More than just a stylish place, these beaches are popular for their work in protecting the turtles which reside in the area.

  4. Agonda: Located north of Palolem, Agonda is a true treasure for beach lovers in south Goa. Secluded from the lively beaches dwelled in the north of the state, Agonda is a hidden treasure. Somewhat isolated, peaceful nature of this beach adds to its true virtue. A small and traditional fishing village next to it makes this one of the most culturally engaging seaside parts of Goa.

  5. Anjuna: Once upon a time it was a favourite joint for hippies, Anjuna beach currently radiates slightly different vibe. Although there is still some indication of the bohemian peace, it is now the hotspot for travellers. Located in North Goa, just a few miles away from Goa’s capital of Panjim. Watching sunset is the best thing to do here.

  6. Candolim: This beach features a long coastline lined with shacks and bars. Surrounded by dunes and a natural element which isn’t present at other beaches in Goa. It is close to the busy Baga beach, Candolim is popular but isn't overcrowded. This beach has a lively community feel, but it also maintains a level of calm even in high season.

  7. Colva: Endorsed by Indian tourists, Colva beach is one of the busiest beach in October when pilgrims come over to Colva Church. Otherwise, Colva is a less popular beach because of less nightlife entertainment. This has helped the beach preserve its authenticity and culture, making it the best destination in Goa.
