by Ady Grewal Content writer
Umrah is a sacred journey for all those belonging to Islam. It comprises of traveling to the Holy Kaabah, which is considered as the House of Allah by all Muslims. Although Hajj, which is an obligatory prayer is offered only on specific days. However, Umrah can be performed at any time throughout the year besides the three months specified for Hajj. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) is reported to have called Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj being performed with him (PBUH); which increases the importance of Umrah even more if offered in the month of blessings. Most scholars link the importance of Ramadan for it is the month in which the Holy Quran was revealed on the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Calling Umrah a journey that takes you to Heaven is not a mere exaggeration. It the holy pilgrimage that makes all previous sins forgiven by Allah Almighty. In other words, it gives you a chance to start a new and righteous life if your previous life was the one with sins and bad things. There are a number of reasons for it as well. The foremost reason is the intention to spend your time and resources with the mindset of becoming the guest of House of Allah from the resources He Himself has bestowed you with. Another important factor is the hardships the holy traveler encounter during the sacred journey. Leaving all loved ones away and the comfort available at home is not an easy task and is not everyone’s cup of tea. It requires real courage and bravery to leave your comfort zone and start a journey. Each and every problem one encounters while travel earns one the reward that Allah Almighty has promised. After the completion of journey and arrival in the alien country exposes one to more hardships and trouble. The comfort and ease that can be available to one at one’s own home are exemplary. Furthermore, the Tawwaf around the Holy Kaabah in a large number of people is also great task of labor. It becomes more challenging if your circle around Holy Kaabah is a bigger one. However, Prophet (PBUH) has also reported having said that Tawwah performed at a greater distance from Kaabah is more rewarding than the one performed at a close distance. Afterward, Sayee which is the walk from Mount Safa to Marwah is also a laborious task. Once you complete your seventh circuit at Mount Marwah, you are supposed to be rejuvenated and given a new life, which is actually good news for believers; after which they try their best to forbid themselves from all sorts of evil and bad things.
