9 Tips to Install Luxury Vinyl Flooring on Particleboard

by Sarah B. Marketing Writer | Thinker | Environmentalist

Vinyl tiles are truly versatile. Installation is super easy. In addition to that, they do not require you to be a pro to finish the installation. You could watch a YouTube video to understand the basics of vinyl floor installation.

Moving forward, you will need a perfectly even subfloor, on which the tile tiles will be applied. That’s the prerequisite of any tile project. You have to prepare a solid, flat and smooth subfloor to place (stone, porcelain, or vinyl) tiles. However, with vinyl tiles, you will need a subfloor as well as an underlayment.

Underlayment is what makes vinyl flooring comfortable to walk on. It also helps in soundproofing and reducing the noise factor of the room. Apart from that, underlayment helps prevent moisture and block the possibility of bumps and dips on the vinyl flooring.

Using Particleboard for Vinyl Floor Installation

  1. To finish your vinyl floor installation, you could use particleboard too. Here are some of the tips to get started and install particleboard –
  2. Clean the board well. Remove dust and loose debris from it. You could consider vacuuming it before floor installation.
  3. Make sure that particleboard is smooth and perfectly even.
  4. Seal the board with a suitable sealant. For particleboard, you can use a shellac sealant that is easily available at tile stores and cleaning supplies.
  5. Let the sealant dry, before moving ahead with the installation.
  6. Set the first tile at the center of board on the farthest wall of the room. Start from the center of the wall, and place your first line of tiles. This will help you keep cut tiles towards the edges and corner.
  7. Once first line is placed, apply the second line.
  8. Move from the farthest towards the exit of the room.
  9. Do not take too much adhesive. This way you will be zeroing the chances of bulges and craters on the floor surface.

Do not forget to run a roller on the floor after installation. You are ready to walk on your vinyl flooring.
