Best way to write a movie review in a few hours

by Jennifer Broflowski Blogger

There are many sites out there like IMDb and the rotten tomatoes which critique a movie and try to argue out whether it's bad or good. While some movies do get a success, others fail, sometimes miserably. Movies are a source of entertainment and some may be educational. Whatever it is, reviewing a movie is essential for the directors.

Read this article to find out the best way to write a movie review in a few hours. If you need help in the movie review writing, you can also use the online private tutoring.

Watching the movie

First and foremost, you have to watch the movie before formulating your opinion. Yes, it kind of sounds obvious and apparen, but this is important at the same time. There have been many cases of reviewers who submitted reviews even without watching a minute of the movie. Watch the entire movie carefully and not just once. If required, watch it whatever number of times you deem necessary. It might be easy to miss some vital parts and elements, which might be important to the story. It's of no use giving out inaccurate reviews. So, watch the movie multiple times if required.

Short and interesting

Start off your review in such a way that it immediately captures the attention of the reader. Do not start off in a boring manner like, I am writing this review for this movie. It's a good movie.. Do not start like this as no one will read it. The first line itself should hook the readers. Another vital point is to keep the review short. No one has the time to read a two or three page review. Keep it short, within one page or so. An elementary yet compelling review will stand out from others.

Frame your opinion

Express your opinion of the movie in the beginning. Whether you like it or not, let the readers know early on. Keep your opinion, but express your criticism also. Use points and examples to prove your arguments. Keep the review as unbiased as you can. Don't focus on just a particular actor and frame your entire review on that specific person. If you feel it is a bad movie, write it, don't be afraid of hurting the cast and crew. It's their job to receive criticism, so that they learn from the mistakes.

Go over the other aspects as well

When you are reviewing, do not just focus on the protagonists and their acting. A movie is not only based on acting. Review the other aspects also, like, the cinematography, music, the pace at which the movie runs and the direction. These technical elements are important for the success of any movie. Was the music in accordance with the script? Was there too much CGI used in some action scene? Has the editing been done properly? All these factors are important, go through these as well.

No spoilers

If people come to know the actual plot of the movie, then there is no use to go and see the movie. Avoid giving spoilers wherever you can. The readers should be intrigued to know what happened so that they actually go and watch the movie. The moment you give spoilers, it will be considered as a sign of amateurism and no one will end up reading your review. If spoilers are absolutely necessary for the review then warn the readers, that, spoilers ahead.

Writing a movie review is a daunting task. There are bound to be some people who will not agree with your review. There will be many others who will believe your review and go to watch the movie based on it. Be sincere in your work and be smart and keep your review short and intriguing.
