Most e-commerce scripts these days either have in built sitemap generation tools that do this already or have plugins that can make that happen. If the site is Wordpress Based there are a ton of plugins that can make a awesomely nested set of sitemaps. Before doing this to my sitemaps Google indexed around 35% of pages, now they Index all pages and are coming back and adding my newest post inside a day. @Andy creating separate sitemap is good concept but it would be feasible for e-com site or bulk site having huge pages???
