Lots of sites are now using badges and other collectables to make surfing more interesting. Do you participate in any of these sites, and do you find them of benefit?
Christian, Fred and Paula, Thanks for taking part in the discussion. You all make valid points. I know for myself the fact that I can get badges and that another one is around the corner, just a few more pages surfed, helps to kept me motivated that's for sure. Paula I will have to check out RichMouse, I've heard of it but haven't investigated it but sounds like a good possibility.
Hi Christian, Thanks for the feed back. I know for me collecting badges has added an element that makes surfing more fun, and any time you can do that it's a plus.
It depends. I think a service like RichMouse Points and Gem Points are of value because you can use your points for credits, discounts, upgrades etc on all participants sites. At mouse points you can also safe them and trade for cash or buy items like T-shirts with them. At Adone you can collect stickers which also give points you can trade for TE offers but also for nice products like a webcam. So yes I think it is worth collecting them. And for a TE owners to offer it to members
For me what counts are results. Results are the ultimate "badge" and "collectable." Well, that's just me. I, however, realize that we are different, so different strokes for different folks - which is perfectly fine.
Collecting badges isn't a primary goal for me. But when a site seems to delivering traffic and works fine to me, badges are a little extra. People like to collect any kind of stuff. Why not badges too? I would say i also surf more with badges because i know when i surf 5, 50, 100 more there is a special badge. Seems like a win win for the surfer and the TE owner.
