Traffic Exchanges Explained
Traffic Exchanges Explained
Traffic exchanges are a relatively new concept of exchanging website
visitors with others and there by promoting and building traffic
for your website as well as for other's websites.
In other words, there are websites where your can
promote your website and it is displayed for
others, and you view other's websites. This helps in
promoting and increasing traffic to your website.
When one registers with a traffic exchange site,
then his or her website appears in that traffic exchange
for other members of the traffic exchange to view.
This is a kind of website promotion where one
website owner helps the other and vice versa.
There are lots of people who can benefit from the
traffic exchange programs, some of the people who
benefit from the program are Internet Marketers,
Ezines Publishers, Affiliates, or anyone else with a website.
After all what it a website without any visitors
or traffic, it's just a bunch of files sitting on a server somewhere.
Traffic exchanges are a cost effective and
relatively easy way to promote your website.
Most traffic exchanges have a free membership, with some
offering upgraded positions to get even more website traffic and visitors.
There hundreds of different traffic exchanges,
choosing the right ones for your website promotion is the key.
Things you must look at before joining a traffic exchange are:
The Number of Members - there is no use joining a
traffic exchange that has only a few members,
because no matter how many hits it sends to your website,
it is the same members viewing your site over and over.
The View Ratio - Who wants to have to look at 10 different
websites in order to get one visitor to his or her site.
Most commonly traffic exchanges offer a 2:1 ratio, meaning
that for every two sites you visit you will get one visitor in return.
The Type of Website Allowed - Why join a traffic exchange
that won't allow you to promote your type of website.
But to get a smooth surfing traffic exchange, you do want to
look for ones that weed out websites that break frames,
stop the surf timer, try to download things automatically,
or any of the other undesirable tricks some webmasters use.
Some other things I like to look for in a traffic exchange,
but that are harder to find out are:
Number of Unique Hits - You want a high percentage of
unique hits, this way the same surfer isn't using up
all your website promotion traffic exchange credits.
The Countries of Origin - Why promote to people who can't
read your site, or to countries that your site is not applicable to.

Hi,
You seem well versed in the traffic exchange ethos and obviously believe in them - you are promoting 32 of them, after all.
Whether or not they are a relatively new concept is a subjective call but, in internet terms I would suspect that they are now old hat.
Can you please explain the value of traffic exchange hits?
When I was surfing traffic exchanges a couple of years ago, by using a multi-tabbed browser, I never actually viewed any sites because if I was on a site with a 20 s
