Amazon Relational Database Service(Amazon RDS)

Amazon RDS is a database hosting service provided by Amazon Web Services that supports an array of database engines. AWS or Amazon Web Services has many tutorials and guides available, but I found it hard to understand what Amazon RDS is and why you would use it.
