English Is A Tough Language To Learn-- Just Ask Any Native Speaker! LOL!
The site "Innocent English " is dedicated to those of us, whether we are native English speakers, and/or hardworking and wonderful people from all around the world, who are trying to learn English for the first time...
The humor here is presented by teachers of English in many areas including, Translation Services, Culinary Arts, Classroom Teaching ect.
It is also meant to be good-natured fun, and a comforting lift to students of the English language from everywhere, including the places where English is the Native Language...(!)
Whatever your background may be, and where-ever in the world you may reside, I'm sure that you'll find something here to have a chuckle or two about... And as for me, "Learning with Laughter and Love...", is the best way to Master ANYTHING!:)
Oddly, English is so differently spoken in so many different countries around the globe that it is amazing that we can understand each other at all!
Even written English differs vastly from the way it's spoken and when it comes to punctuation and spelling- I can see why learning it can drive a non-native speaker up the wall! It makes NATIVE speakers crazy, too!
By the way, I have language learning resources that are available for free to all, just ask me for the link in your comments..
Have a great laugh and an excellent day!:)

Hi, I have a question.
Do you contact at least 10,000 Marketers a day with your ads?
Because that is exactly what my computer is doing for me right now... Im not at home; I'm at the lake with my 2 young boys.
If 1 sale per thousand contacts earns me 75.00, Then I will make 750.00 today! Every Day! How much a day would that be for your product?

And that is a very fine answer, Marie! :)
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences with us. I realy love languages, too and I like the aspect of learning them from people and the things we all do: Eat, Drink, Laugh and hopefully Love and all good stuff like that...

Yes, English is confusing and easily misunderstood especially the written word as we do not have vocal inflections nor body language to help understand what the writer. There are also confusing words that sound the same and easily misspelled as above.
I agree with Nancy that it helps once one learns another language to be more understanding with others and their use of language.

Misundertandings of all kinds can happen when language in selling is used incorrectly... Puntuations in particular can convey expressiveness in written language but if used poorly they might signal pushiness where none is intended.

I don't like aggressive or persuasive marketing style, but I enjoy friendly and permissive marketing that’s why I’m here. But, I’m still disappointed receiving crumbly ads from people who don’t know me at all and send ads to my inbox.

Hi T,
I wish I could speak 6 languages! :)
I only speak three and a few broken phrases of two others.
It has been 5 years since I've been doing different kind of programs on the net, but I've only started to learn and take Internet marketing seriously since last year. I've gathered many informations but what I really need to do is figure out how to fit everything together to make it function properly.
Marketing in English isn't a big problem. I believe that the simple approach is the best. T

Hi Nancy,
Can I call you the International Lady ;-)
My mother was Ukrainian, father Romanian, but I was born in Czech Republik and lived in Romania (most of my life), in the USA few years, and travelled a lot in many European countries. So, I can understand you.
My father knew 6 languages, so for me was very easy to learn writing, reading and speaking currently english language, but have problems to understand 'cultural' jargons and slangs, because I did not spend my first years of life there b

Hi Everyone,
I'm Nancy, and I've lived in the US, Japan, the Philippines and now in France. I'm half American and Japanese.
This article caught my eye today. Although I wouldn't say that English is difficult to learn, from my personal experience, I'd say it should more often be a two way street, foreigners learning English and Native speakers learning a foreign language.
I have known many foreigners learning and doing their best to practise their English but unfortunately they very often come

TOP! You wrote this article after we had a 'language' discussion on ohter post...;-) However, when you use normal and plain Engish I can say that I understand 101% of it, but when some uses slangs and jargons, I'm lost...
Thanks a lot.

A different language and meaning for every type of media and industry and even neighborhood can make English comprehension a very dizzying challenge for a non-Native speaker... Franken-Words, Buzzwords and other types of slang seem to be infesting the language everyday...
I don't personally believe that English is hard to learn, it's just that it's rarely spoken any more! :) LOL!
Just kidding, thank you for your fine comments and have a great day! :)

Hello,
I have to say that I don't think that English is a tough language to learn, compared to other languages.
I'm an English teacher and I teach English to French people here in France. In the past I taught English in English schools and prisons (in which there were men of different nationalities). I also accommodated and taught English to all different nationality students over a number of years.
I also do translating and proofreading.
English is very often less complicated than the Fre

I'm lucky to have responses come from such fine people as yourselves- This article came about as a result of a tearful ESL student who was being teased about her perfect English, which the Native students kept saying that they didn't think it was "Cool".... Go figure.

Excellent post I agree 100%
Have noticed that at times when people come from a different country they learn quickly and properly where as soem of English residents can hardly read nor write
