There is no doubt that the recent crackdown of unarmed peaceful Biafran young demonstrators has backfired on Nigerian government by fully internationalizing the Biafra case throughout the world. This new article implies that the Catalonian Secession vote could widen the problems for Nigeria.The Catalan Secession vote passed by a whopping 90% vote, but there are issues that only about 43% of the eligible voters voted in the referendum. “Nigeria’s fault lines could widen as Spain’s secessionists push for independence”.Nigeria in light of the Catalan Secession vote. Among other issues raised, I see similarities between the Catalan Secession and the Biafran Secession movement. This sounds warning bells in Buhari’s government, many of whose officials either fought in or grew up during Nigeria’s civil war (1966-70) over Biafra’s attempted secession …” The fact that there may be a scenario where IPOB if pushed to the limit could link up with some Niger Delta Militants could spell disaster for Nigeria’s ailing economy. There is also the possibility that Biafran secessionists and the Niger Delta Militants could also link up with nearby Anglophone Cameroonians who are raising similar issues against the Cameroonian government. Western Cameroon secessionists are looking to establish the Republic of Ambazonia.
