What makes a quality ebook?
I recently decided to start my own e-book design business because of the lack of quality ebooks out in the marketplace.
6mths ago I was a fulltime Mum who did not want to go back into the corporate world. My background was in communication and graphic design so I decided to learn about internet marketing to see if I could make a living from home. I was not sure what I wanted to sell when a girlfriend of mine gave me the movie 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne. Well that inspired me to create a business selling Journals online with my first journal being a gratitude journal as mentioned in the movie as well as in the 'Secret to Getting Rich' by Wallace Wattles. These proved very popular so I moved onto 'Law of Attraction' workbooks and now I am just about to launch a charity journal for women diagnosed with breast cancer called 'Your Journey'
To try and attract people to my website I created a newsletter for people who wanted to receive a monthly ebook free. I found that there were lots of free ebooks on offer but not many worth looking at or reading.
My question to the forum is do you believe that the quality of an ebook whether purchased or free, includes the professional appearance and quality of the book or just the content.
I did not read the 120 page black and white text document in times new roman 10pts because it was too hard to read , but then people purchase books that are exactly that. So I am not sure.
I would really be interested in some feedback as to whether people would use an eboook design service to create their online products or not.
If you would like to check out my website to see what I do please visit www.yourjournal.com.au
I look forward to your thoughts on this subject. have a great day.

I think the content is more important BUT if You wanna sell it, it's better when it looks Good or better word for this is "attractive" for the aye. It drives attention.

ladies, thank you for taking the time to provide me with some great feedback and valid comments. I agree there is so much free stuff being given away at the moment that is complete rubbish. I have just been on a website for my MLM business that has all this great information in about 15 free downloadable pages but when I get to these pages they are so hard to read and find the actual important information that I get bored and click to the next one. But I have received some really good ebooks t

Thanks Barbara Ii will let you know how I go. Focusing on launching my Journal for women diagnosed with breast cancer so over the next 4 weeks that is my priority but then I am really going to do some research on this for a viable business. I am sure there is plenty of people in this forum who have not even contemplated selling their own ebooks or creating an e-book to drive traffic to their site. If you hear of anyone while visiting the different groups maybe you can send them my way. Pam

Thanks for the feedback guys it is all very positive. Valerie I like the way you think, I know there are alot of businesses that have areas of expertise that have no idea how to conquer the internet so they just keep plodding along with their current services. I might look into this idea a little further because I think it is a good idea I just have to figure out the best way to market the service. I will check out your website Valerie and find out more about what you do and perhaps we can ha

Personally, when looking at an e-books ... I go by the overall layout and presentation of the sales page/website, including usage of grammar, spelling, graphics, etc. Since I can not see the e-book until I purchase it, I have no way of knowing beforehand of its quality. So, the website has to speak for the book. However, once I buy the e-book, if the presentation of the e-book (grammar, spelling, design) is just meant to be a quick bu

Valerie brings up a lot of excellent points.
A good majority of the e-books out there are internet marketing bent ... make money from the purchase of the e-book and then make money from products/services advertised within the e-book. Many of those e-books are full of white spaces in order to pad out the number of pages it touts to have. Yes, white space is very useful for ease of reading on a computer, to ease eye-fatigue and the like. But some folks, even big name ones, tend to over do it

Pam wow you are going in a very good direction and I believe you are going to do just fine.
There are two worlds of e-books out there. The viral marketing e-book that’s sole purpose is to lead you into a product sale or program. Any e-book with resale rights or branding abilities usually falls into this category. After a while they are all out there for free. The marketing world is saturated with old free useless e-books
The other e-book world is virtually untouched and I th
