dpi stands for dots per inch. It is short hand for the ink pixels in any given image. The more dots per inch the higher the resolution of any given image and the more one can blow up an image with better clarity.
some dpi designations are 72 dpi , 96dpi, 150 dpi ,300dpi, 3000dpi etc,ect. You will be able to see how much dpi any given image hasona computer by going to the image drop down on your computers tool bar. I hope this helps.
