Have you been caught in the comparison ambush?
Are you a WFHE(working from home executive) who is constantly comparing your progress and results with that of fellow networkers?
Be careful. It is a well known fact that competition can be healthy, but it can also be unhealthy.
When a few WFHE’s get together and see who can recruit the most affiliates or sell the most product in a particular period of time, it is healthy competition. This can give you a target to aim for and you may end up accomplishing more than you would have without the completion.
However, it can turn unhealthy when you try to compare yourself to people whose circumstances are totally different from yours.
You may be a mother with a newborn and a toddler, or even twins, comparing yourself to a mother with older children who don’t need constant care and therefore have much more time to spend on her business. Or you may be a retired business man, born much too early to automatically have all the technical internet knowledge that younger men were born with.
Remember the comparing apple to apples story? Well, always keep that in mind, because it can totally break your spirit if you don’t.
It is normal to wonder whether your business is growing effectively. Never be scared to ask advice, but make sure you ask someone who is already successful. They can give you an honest opinion and may even be kind enough to warn you of the pitfalls.
Avoid asking fellow networkers how much money they are making, you will never know whether they are giving you the truth or are they inflating their figures to impress you.
Another cliché is “remember this is not a race”. True - it is a bloody ultra-marathon and will need guts to keep on going.
Good luck, maybe we’ll meet at the podium!
