What is AI? Applications of Artificial Intelligence

Today when I am traveling to some new place on a vacation, and Google shows me nearby places to visit. I wonder how does Google able to show me all this information without me even searching for them. Can Google read my mind? Do you remember the movie “Terminator” which shows Arnold Schwarzenegger as Terminator, a robot who travels in time to kill Sarah?
