Basic Airway Management - National Reference Simulation Centre
Basic airway management means ensuring patency, provide adequate ventilation, and maintain appropriate oxygenation to patient. It is a combination of opening of airway manoeuver which includes head-tilt and chin lift and jaw thrust manoeuver, airway adjuncts, and assisted ventilation by using a bag and mask which will enable sufficient oxygenation to maintain life. It is the foundation upon which advance airway skills are based on.
