PDF - Look professional For FREE
The Portable Document Format (PDF) is the file format created by Adobe Systems in 1993 for document exchange. More than 200 million PDF documents on the web today serve as evidence of the number of organizations that rely on PDF to capture information.
PDF files look exactly like original documents and preserve source file information — text, drawings, 3D, full-color graphics, and photos. Documents created in MS Word or other PC/Mac word processor programs can be converted to PDF.

Give it a try. This is one tool that I have used many time in writing reports and short ‘how to’ eBooks.

As a measure of how important PDF Docs are my directories have a stand alone feature just to put your documents into your listing. I rank PDFs right alone with pictures and sales offers as part of a well designed presentation for any business.

The easiest way to distribute a PDF file to one person or many, is to put it on a web server and give them a link. Do a search for free storage and you can find several if you don't have your own web hosting account. Of course if you're serious about your online career, this is one of the fundamental basics in my opinion and you can get quality hosting for less than $10 a month now.

Yippee, I did it. Managed to create a pdf ebook with Openoffice. Of course, I had a couple of teething problems, first couple of times I tried to save it, the thing wouldn't open, then when it did, it opened just like a normal document. Agghhh!
Anyway, I finally managed it, and now it looks like a real thing that you would download from the internet!
However, although it 'looks' real, it obviously isn't. I still have a lot of work to put into it, but I have the basic outline of what I wan

Thanks for all these places folks. They are much appreciated.
Hey, Old Buddy, long time no hear. Checked out your pdf and it looks really good.
If I can get mine to come out looking that good, I will be well impressed, LOL.
I still never recieved the document from pdfonline. I am assuming that i must have done something wrong there though it seemed fairly straightforward.
Anyway, as I am quite familiar with Office, I will have a go with the Openoffice and see how I get on with that.

Open Office is a suite of office applications that rivals Microsoft Office in functionality with the addition of being able to export to PDF with a single click. It is free to download and in my opinion, probably Sun Microsystems way of getting back at Microsoft for past business dealings.
You can import almost any other format into Open Office Writer and export the PDF, so yes other documents can be used. That being said, I can't see many reasons not to do your formatting in Open Office anyw

Is openoffice like microsoft office? I've heard of it but not too sure what it is?
How much does it cost and is it easy to use for someone like me?
Bear in mind, techie is NOT my middle name. I'm quite good with most of the Office applications as I use them at work a lot.

Correct me if i am wrong, but one would need to use Open Office to create the document to print to PDF with Open Office, these other printers allows printing of ANY format document...

This information is totally obsolete and has been since Open Office was released by Sun Microsystems for several operating systems. Why use a print driver or online solution when Open Office Writer includes PDF Export as a one click option?
You can incorporate pictures, graphs, various fonts, color and create PDF reports or complete eBooks to your hearts content and do it all free.

PDF995 does have that feature, Thea, I haven't used it for a while but i think you open the "Edit PDF file" as soon as you print it you can enter the Keyword you want hyperlinked and the URL and it will add the link to all those Keywords...
But the free PDF995 does have ads...

As Jenny, I use pdfFactory Pro, paid version.
I do have one question. When I print docs. with pdfFactory Pro, the links are live.
However, if I want to include text or image to replace the link line (as text), then the link is no longer live.
Does anyone know of a free pdf writer, with no ads showing etc. that allows for linking images and lines of text?
If not, I'll write to pdfFactory & see if there's yet a further upgrade to mine. Thanks.

Well, I tried the pdfonline and it said it sends the document to your email. But I certainly didn't get it! Lord only knows who did? LOL. Good job, I didn't give them a real document to convert! It was just a motivational one page word document. Figured I best try it out first.
I guess I will try some of the others on here.
thanks folks for all these free places. I never knew there was so much available stuff out there.
Great topic Valerie. And useful to know for all of us.

I like pdfactory - another free download - with an upgrade option that removes their logo from the finished result. it has a lot of other handy options too.
Adobe have priced themselves out of the market on so many things and this is just one.

Valerie,
Are you psychic? Have you got some sort of 'spyware' set up on my computer?
Can't believe I've just seen this. I have literally just come away from Adobe's site where I was trying to figure out how to create a pdf document. Came away becuase I found it so confusing and I think you have to pay!
Was going to post on apsense for advice and here's your post!
Thanks.
