The Samurai is the nickname given to people of a caste in old Japan with one of the greatest fighting powers. In accordance with the history of the Samurai, this caste system has a greater bearing on the roots of well-known Japanese karate. Long before the Samurai came into ultimate power in the 12th century, they operated as mercenary warriors. People of the group of Samurai are required to train by the normal operating procedure of honor and respect called Bushido (the life of the warrior). Previously in the Heian Period, the Samurai mainly functioned as “protectors” of noble overlords. The Samurai introduced the original military dictatorship in Japan, where they worked for the daimyos (lords), and empowered the shogun.
