Ask for a Shallower Stone
Diamond proportions are important for the entire brilliance of the stone, but sometimes choosing a shallower stone will help you get more bang for your buck. You may have two stones, both of these .50ct, but one of these has standard proportions and something of them is even more shallow. The shallower diamond is going to have a wider table and therefore look bigger than it truly is. When buying a diamond, your eye can be your companion. If the stone is too shallow, you will observe that it generally does not sparkle as much as another more appropriately proportioned diamond.
