Yes, there are many people looking to take advantage of people's greed and love of money.
One thing I would add is don't send nasty replies back.
You will most likely be sending to an autoresponder so no one is reading anyway, you are just verifying that your email is good.
Even if a person read it, you won't make them mad just laugh if anything

I've won so many lotteries I'm sure I'm now worth more than the top five richest people in the world...combined. And I'm still waiting for Ed McMahon to knock on my door with that Publisher's Clearinghouse check. Oh that's right I had better stop waiting on that one...Ed McMahon died a while back.

Yes you are absolutely right. I have three primary emails and i share them every where. I get a lot of emails of these type of scams.
