There is a far more serious aspect to this type of email.

These are aimed at people who have become wealthy, either by fortune or the good luck of a hunch paying off, but who do not have the necessary scepticism to see through them.

The telling clause is that the BUYER must go to Abidjan.

Quite a few people have fallen for this type of scam and been held for ransom ( a few have died in the process) until the last available cent has been squeezes from their coffers.

The kidnapping aspect surfaced a few years back when a man was held for ransom back in 2002, I think...

These brazen idiots even send their offers through high end postal services... The last package that I recieved came from Italy, but the letter inside was definitely based on the African scam set up. I sent the mailing straight to the Attorney General's office-- but I never heard back from them...

Bureaucrats make bad cops-- Remember that!

Maybe you should have sent it to Greg Abbott, Attorney General for the Great State of Texas. After all it's documented that he takes this stuff seriously.

I like to reply to them with an email of my own that says:

"Thanks for your offer, but I doubt that you would want to do business with me. I am a Nigerian con man who likes to take people for their money. If we met I would take your gold and your money! I might even kidnap you and hold you for ransom!

Still want to meet and do business with me?"

LOL....What do you think of my reply email?

They didn't pester me much until I listed my business on the Thomas Register.... Lot's of 1st class traffic goes through there... From small business to Yacht Buyers- The scammers love to cruise there, but that's where they are likely to get caught...
