A question about inviting new members!

Hi all,

I have been using the promotional form where you can select different messages and add a personal touch to your email when inviting new members to APSense.

Since I have done this a few times, I am no longer sure who I have sent an invitation already.

[That problem has recently been solved by adding a "View My Invitations" button - great job, thanks!]

- A remaining question:

Could  we also select which link we would like to use when sending out mail for inviting new members with this great system?

The flash presentation or the ABC link are two links I'd much rather use then the regular invitation link

- Some new questions:

The "View Invitations" button is so new, most of you may not even know it exists or where to find it! :-)

In any case, when you display the list it has a status indicator - Active or Inactive - which makes for a great point to actually split the list into two parts so the heading can actually say what Active and Inactive stands for ... and as the discussion with the contact list already made clear, all lists should have the option of being sorted by the major fields of each list like date, email and name for the invitations list and - as I JUST NOTICED is NOW working very well - name, user ID, date and bonus points for the contact list - CONGRATULATIONS!

We REALLY do have a GREAT system - it just keeps getting better and better by the minute!

Good question. I'd like to know too. Also, I noticed that the invitations keep being sent until the receiver unsubscribes. Adding to your suggestions, Franto, having somewhere where the INVITER could check and unsubscribe people they have invited would be helpful. I've had friends decline personally to me, but not notice the unsubscribe button on their email, so when they get the next invitation it looks like I'm losing my mind.

I spoke with Wincer about this and this was the result of our conversation:
.........................
we will send out another 2 emails to invited person later
all emails include your invite links
all emails have unsubscribe link
currently there is no way to track - But they thinking of adding a "view invitations" at a later date.

Yeh, thanks Lynn and Penny for staying on top of these questions. I would have thought Wincer would have seen a greater urgency to add a bit more functionality to an otherwise great tool so it's even easier to invite more of our friends without spamming or inviting them twice by mistake!

Right after clicking the "Invite your friends" button, it should first offer the option to see who one has invited previously, show the name, date and when they joined, if they have done so ... not such a big deal to add the code for it. If they are short handed, I will do it in Perl or PHP for a minimal charge, ok? :-)

WOW - the list of invited friends is already in place ... great job!

It even shows who is active and who is not ... but the active ones do not show up automatically on my list of contacts, and when they do, they are listed by their user ID which has no connection to the way they can be seen on the list of invited friends

THIS raises NOW another question:

Why are my invitations and any new members who join from my links not automatically in my list of contacts ... I would have thought this would be a logical next step of the registration!

Franto,
When a member signs up under you they are your referral. A contact is different, contacts always have the option of accepting or declining. It only takes a moment to invite them if that is what you want to. That is what I do. Lynn

Thanks for your comment Lynn.

Does it not make sense to have your own referrals and your own invitees show up in your contact list automatically? If they later want to stop being contacted, this option is already in place.

I have no idea who the active people among my invitees are once they become members because their member ID is not being shown - only the indicator ACTIVE - so how can I now find them to ask them if they want to be on my contact list? What a hell of a job - actually impossible to do the way we have it set up now. Why should we have to go around looking for them in the alphabetical listing in first place when it REALLY should be done automatically for us - besides, it just shows again that an alphabetical listing ONLY, is not good either! We have to have various ways to sort our contact list and they are:

1 - by user ID,
2 - date joined, and
3 - bonus points

This still doesn't make it 100% clear who on your invitee list picked what user ID but the computer knows and should put them into your contact list with that information visible because after you can see them in your contact list, you can then delete them from the list of invitees showing as being active since you now know they are part of your contacts .... very simple! :-)

Franto,
All your direct referrals are in your network. So when you click on your network. You will see their avatar with their name under the avatar. This is what I use to locate my referrals and request contact. Lynn

Lynn,

we do have a "View My Invitations" button now - that's GREAT - but what's the status indicator for - Active / Inactive? I don't see any of the Active ones on any of my other lists? Why is that?

Hi Bill and all,

can you or some one please tell me what the Active and Inactive flag is good for on the INVITEE list? ... :-)

I really think that having to ask members who join directly under me or who I have invited, if they want to be on my contact list, is silly - the system should do that automatically!

My Active Invitees don't show up on my personal or my contact list!

Hi Franto,

I will find out what the active inactive flags signify for you as quickly as I can.

I personally never use an invite system on any site. The reason for this is I have not been given permission by anyone to use their email address in this way.
I do not allow anyone to do it with my email address and in return do not do it myself.
I will contact them directly.

As for expecting an automatic right to have members joining on your contact list - there are many programs where this is not done not only APSense.
Being on someone’s contact list is a privilege extended to us by those that accept our personal invitation.

This also helps sorts out the serious people that want to give support from those that have no intention of doing so and are only interested in building a downline they can earn from without giving anything in return.

When I invite some one I also tell them that as soon as I see they have signed up I will send an invite and ask them to ensure they accept it so I can give them full support.

People that join your network are listed on the "My Network Page". I find it is no hardship to check it daily and then simply click on their picture and go to their profile and click the add to contacts button.

I do this for every member that joins my network some accept some don’t thats life; I expect it and accept it.

You also have the bulletin that you can use to send out messages to your network ans there is nothing to stop us putting in there a note to the effect of
“If you have not yet accepted my contact invite would you please do so, or if I have inadvertently missed sending you one please request a contact from me so that I can communicate with you and assist you with any help you need.”
