Halloween Is Amost Here! Any Plans?

We always go out as a family for halloween. This year my daughter will be a spider lady vampire. She is 10 and has put quite extensive thought into this :) .

We have a home in our neighborhood that turns their garage and whole yard into a haunted house. It is amazing, they are featured in the news each year, and there have been years when the line took forever, but, it was fun talking with the other families also out for the night. And of course seeing all the amazing costumes the children and some parents were wearing.

We have found a new use for our shredder this year....we have been saving newspapers for ages and will be shredding them to fill those bright orange plastic pumkin bags. This year we also found some glow in the dark ghost ones. So let the shredding begin :)

Then there is the pumpkin carving, this is great. Both kids draw the faces they want to have...and then mom pretends she is the surgeon, and tries her best to carve every tiny and sometimes impossible pattern they have made on the pumpkin..lol. And then we bake the pumpkin seeds. All in all it is alot of fun. Lynn

Halloween is always a big deal at our house, since we have two family birthdays on the 28th and 29th. We always have a huge party. My son is an excellent face painter and does all the kids. Sometimes we make a cardboard haunted house for them to crawl through. Last year one of the guys chased them around the yard with a chainsaw (no chain, of course) and they thought that was great fun. We give candy to the trick-or-treaters, and my husband likes to give the older kids a hard time!

hi Lynn,

Actually Lynn l played it all my life, had a chance to play over in Europe the game was good to me and now it is my sons turn l give up playing this year. Just no time with his schedule he is on the ice 5 to 6 times a week a little crazy and hard on all of the family. why l said what l said that we would be at a game his game that nite.

Rather sad actually cause holloween is a very special time for us as a family, as of yesterday we spent most of the day changing thelook of the house...................My wife and duaghter go a little over board, spider webs all over the place and all kinds of goof and scary things hang all over the place.

So in fact since my kids can remember on of them will not be going out doing what a kid should be doing at his age trick or treating. This upsets me a little cause you can always play a game another nite but not how the high up see it..................Your in and that is all that matters, big problem with sports at that level, they forget they are still kids..........:(

I though l would add a little more then just what l left the first time...............Hope you and your family have a lot fun and remember to be safe as always.........Since he is a goalie l guess he will go out as Jason.............friday the 13th .

Hi Jillbeth,
I think its great when birthdays and holidays are close together, as long as you can keep them separate for the younger kids. Our son used to think everyone decorated for his birthday.... Christmas Eve :) Lynn

Joseph,
That is really great that you are so active with your children. Our children are into track and basketball and our son likes to skateboard. Our daughter is wanting to join a soccer team. I am for anything that keeps everyone active.

I agree that sometimes to much pressure is put on kids in sports. And I liked the idea of "Jason" lol. Thank you for the well wishes and I hope your family will get to enjoy at least part of the festivities. Talk soon, Lynn
