I cannot believe ALBAQAA is nearly 10/1. I would love to smack 10 point 'on the nose' but a combination of my current form as well as Richard Hills in the saddle, compels me to back him each way. After seeing him run well in a 7f Newmarket maiden at the back end of June I thought he would take all the beating two weeks later in a similar event at Yarmouth. At the time I was surprised at how poorly he appeared to run (7th of 17) but it's surprising how your perspective can change when the form of a race starts to take shape. The winner (Raven's Pass) having won his next two races will most likely start favourite for the Group 1 Dewhurst at the end of the month and there has already been an additional SEVEN winners out of the race. The horses in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 10th, 11th & 16th have all won, including a £24,000 Nursery won by Jack Dawkins last month off a rating of 75. Jack Dawkins was sent off 11/4 favourite in the Yarmouth race and he finished 1l behind ALBAQAA in 8th. ALBAQAA carried the same weight as Jack Dawkins and he gets into this contest off a rating of just 74! Now, possibly one of the reasons we are getting such attractive odds for ALBAQAA is because he has since finished only 5th in a 7f Nursery at Salisbury. However, that race is also starting to work out very well with the 2nd, 3rd & 6th all winning their next race. Not only has ALBAQAA been dropped 4lb but he was held up at the rear from a poor draw and was never given a chance. Ed Dunlop has his horses in much better form than he did in August and the drop back to 6f should ensure he is ridden a lot more positively. Soft ground won't be a problem and i'll throw a tizzy fit if he doesn't run a VERY big race this afternoon. C'mon Richard, let's bury the hatchet and do what you did aboard Tajaaweed yesterday! I REALLY, REALLY fancy this horse and it's a kitchen sink job for me.
