Cyclone Hosting Advanced
The FTP Client that we use is called LeapFTP and we will list below training materials on how to use that client so it will make your life much easier then using CPanel to transfer files. Also, cpanel will be stopping frontpage extensions soon I heard and they will no longer support that. So, you should know how to use an ftp client to make life easier for you.

Note: All hosting customers of Cyclone Hosting will get the leapftp client free as per request.

LeapFTP Instructions:

Setup and Configure Instructions:
1. First of all, create a folder on your desktop called Webpage. This folder will be used to store all your webpage files into and it will be easy to access this folder if stored on your desktop.

2. After you create a webpage for instance in frontpage, if that page is the index page for your site, click on file menu at the top of frontpage and then click on save as. You will come up with the save as box. On the left side you will see Desktop. Click on Desktop, and you will be shown all folders on your desktop. double left click on the webpage folder. The folder will open and no contents will be in there unless you recently backed up your existing site in that folder. Now, for file name since this will be the index of the site, name is index.html Leave the save as type as web pages. Click on save. If it asks you if you would like to save the images, say yes. Now, goto your desktop, double click on the webpage folder and confirm that the index.html file has been successfully saved.

3. Now lets upload the index.html file. Open LeapFTP program.

4. If you are presented with the site manager skip this step. If not, click on Sites at the top menu, and then click on site manager. Site Manager box will now open. Click on Add Site under the list of sites on left side. Enter site name box will open. Type in your site name, it can be anything. For example, we typed in Cyclone Hosting for our Site Name. When done, click on OK. On the right side you will now see your site name in the Site name box shaded out. under Site name will be ip address. Type in your domain name without the www. So for example, you would type in yourwebsite.com in the ip address box. Next, you will see Username. Type in your hosting account username in that box, then type in your password in next box. Click on Save Password checkbox so this way you don't have to keep typing in your password. To make life easier for you, in the Remote Path, type in /public_html So, whenever you login, it will automatically goto the public_html directory where you need to store all your files for your website. When you did all this, click on Connect at the very bottom of that box. You should now be successfully connected if you entered all the hosting account details correct in the site manager.

Uploading Instructions:
5. Once connected, you should see now on the right side in LeapFTP a list of files and folders. That side is the server side where you will store your files to be shown online. The left side is your computer which you will use to nagivate to your files that you store in the webpage folder so you can upload them to the right side(Server Side). Now, lets upload the index.html file to the server.

6. On the left side you should be at the LeapFTP folder, which is the default folder is goes to when you start leapftp. You will want to double left click on the blue up arrow in the left side box. Do that twice until you see Document and Settings folder in there. Double Click on Documents and Settings, then double click on your name, then double click on Desktop. Now, you should see your webpage folder in there. double click on webpage. You will see your index.html file there. Double left click on that index.html file. That will start the upload process. If it asks you if you would like to relace, say yes if you are sure you want to replace your existing index.html file with the newer version. Now when it is successfully uploaded, navigate to http://www.yourwebsite.com/index.html and you should see the newer version of that page. You should always make copies of your files before replacing them just in case if doesn't work out as planned.

7. If you have more then one file you want to upload from your webpage folder to the server, instead of double click each file individually and/or folders, you would hold down the ctrl key on your keyboard, and left click once on each of the files and folders until everything you want to upload is highlighted on the left side, right click on the left side anywhere and you will see the word upload. left click on upload. It will upload all folders files, etc. that you highlighted. If it asks you to replace, and you are sure about it, click on replace all so it will not ask you again for each duplicate file that you are uploading.. It will continue uploading until everything is done.

Backup Instructions:
1. say for instance you want to backup your entire public_html directory, you can double left click on the blue up arrow on right side, and then you should see the folder public_html.

2. Right click on public_html and left click on download. It will download everything to the left side, which is your computer..

That covers part 1 of downloading backups to your computer and uploading new version of stored files from your computer to the server.
