Making the most of your APSense Business Center. 6. Resources.

The next item at the top of our "Setting Up My Business Center" page is "Resources"

At first glance the "Resources" section appears to be a very simple section, but there is in fact more to it than meets the immediate eye.

First let us cover the "Add Link".

Initially we see the following three Boxes.

"Link Title".
This is the text that will be clickable and take the visitor to the URL you enter in the next Box.
You can simply put the program name in this box however You can also use a question, an opening statement or the starting sentence of your Ad, which you can then complete in the description box below.

"Link URL"
This already has the http:// filled in so make sure that if you copy and paste the URL (which I always recommend to avoid typing errors) that you do not end up with two lots of http://. Personally I remove what is there and then paste my URL in to avoid making this error.

"Brief"
This is the Box for a brief description of the "Resource" you are offering. It is also your shot at getting the visitor to go and visit the site. Here again try to be "Original" in what you put. This is the most important part of the "Resource" presentation that people will see when they look at your "Resource" Page, So try to get them curious enough to want to find out more.

Once you have checked everything is correct click on the "Add Link" Button.

Repeat this for each "Resource" you want to add.

As I said there is more than initially meets the eye in this section.
Although it is not obvious there is a way to set the order in which your "Resources" are displayed.

As you "Add Resources" they will initially be displayed in the order of last entered will be at the top of the list on the "Resource" Page.
You can in actual fact change this order.

"Changing the order in which Resources are displayed"

Word of Warning
If you are working on the top Item in your list as you see it on the "Resource" Page. Make sure you have a copy of what you placed in the "Link Title" and the "Brief" boxes.

I have found that for some unknown reason when editing this item sometimes it does not retain the information you entered. in these two boxes although the URL is retained.
This does not happen on the other items in the list.

First decide which order you want your "Resources" to be shown from top to bottom.

Next click on the icon representing the "Pencil"

You are now on the "Edit Link" page, where you will see the following.

"Link Title".
This box should already contain the Title you entered (see the above warning)
If not then you have no option but to re enter it.

"Link URL"
This box should already contain the URL you entered (see the above warning)
If not then you have no option but to re enter it.

"Brief"
This box should already contain the Description you entered (see the above warning)
If not then you have no option but to re enter it.

"Rank"
This is the extra box that you do not see when initially Adding a "Resource".
During the initial adding of the "Resource" they are all given a "Rank" of 0 (Zero) so they are shown in the reverse order to which they were entered.

Enter into this box the number of the position in the list that you want it to be shown.

"Example".
You have entered 3 "Resources" which we will call Resource1 Resource2 and Resource3 and you want them displayed in that order on the page. However because we entered them in that order they are actually being displayed in the order Resource3, Resource2, Resource1
To get them back in the correct order we need to edit each item and place 1 in the "Rank" box of Resource1, 2 in the "Rank" box of Resource2, and 3 in the "Rank" box of Resource3

Do not Forget to Click the "Save Link" Button each time you make a change.

"Approving / Rejecting Submitted Links".

If you have the "Add A Link" option on your "Business Center" activated and someone submits a link you will see the Submitted Link and on the right hand side the options to "Approve", "Edit" (the Pencil icon) or "Delete" (the red x) it.

If you click on the "Edit" option you can then set the "Rank" to decide where in the list of "Resources" the submitted link is shown.
So if you want it below your own links then you give it the appropriate number as described in the "Edit Link" section above.
Then click on the "Save Link" Button.

Once you have done that you can then "Approve" the link.

If it is a link to something you do not want shown on your "Resources" page then you can click the "Red x" and delete it. You will get a confirmation box pop up click "Yes"

I learn something new everyday. I was a little frustrated thinking my list had to be in the order I added them. Thank-you. Thank-you
