Do you find that online shoppers just don't understand the whole 'Confirmed Address' concept on Paypal?

As many times as I state my Sales Policy that I ship to the Confirmed Address that is on someone's Paypal acct, I still get so many people who ask me to mail their items to an address that conflicts with this policy. Whether they understand it or not, if I put it in writing and they choose to make a purchase, should a seller open that Pandora's Box and point out the conflict, or simply ship to the Paypal address? What are your thoughts?

Firstly, I understand the need to protect against fraud. Nevertheless, sometimes there is a need for the buyer to protect their purchase. Let me give you a real-life example. The buyer is staying with a friend for a long period of time due to a medical situation. The said person sees what they have been wanting for some time, at a bargain price. Now there is no one at the recorded address to sign for the item and the person is not going to be at the registered address for a long period of time. The person, however, foresees there is going to be a problem and thus supplies a lot of information and offers to talk live on Skype to the Seller. Would you in such circumstances talk to the potential client and consider sending to the alternative address?

No, because even after all of that, If I change the address and ship to somewhere other than the Confirmed address Paypal provided to me, the buyer can tell Paypal they did not get the item, and I shipped it 'somewhere else.' I would lose, they would get their item, and Paypal would give them their money back.
I don't wish this to sound mean, but, I'm not in business to 'do people favors.' The situation you describe is just not common and I don't sell items that need to be signed for anyways. Most people who might have to leave their home would have someone checking on it while they were away so the mail would be picked up.

I am referring to signed for items rather than just mailed -however there would be the question if the mailed item would not fit through the mail box.

I do think that if you have it clearly stated that

"Under no circumstances will you send to anywhere but the PayPal registered address, so do not bid if you do not agree to this rule"

Then there should be no issues.

I agree! And - I don't sell anything that requires signature. Non issue.
