Remember:

People don't change unless they see benefit to new behavior or the cost of current behavior. Fear limits, constrains, and reduces their impact and is a thief of living On Purpose. You miss opportunities because you lack the bravery to act on your opportunities. Somehow, many falsely believe that a life lived On Purpose is easy, without effort and challenge; however, the opposite is generally true. 

On Purpose individuals push through and overcome the roadblocks placed in their path. They don't cry or whine about it, but step up to the plate to hit the ball out of the park.

Fear is akin to a ball player not wanting to bat because he worries that he might get hit by the pitch. If being hit by the pitch is all he thought about, more than likely, he would get hit and become a low-percentage batter. On the other hand, the highest-percentage hitters think about the next hit or home run, concentrating on what they need to do to succeed.

Fear causes us to withdraw, and become timid and stressed. If fear is continuously present, our aspirations and related behaviours shrink and diminish. Some use fear as an excuse to avoid engagement, playing it safe and never showing up fully to contribute. Many state that their fear is about safety, but in reality, they just want to be emotionally comfortable.

When we take responsibility, we realize the past is the past, but we can take charge and control of our thoughts and responses in going forward. Mastery does not happen by accident, but anticipates all the forces that want to keep us down and fearful.

Life is always about choices, regardless of the conditions in which we find ourselves.
