Growing older takes its toll on our physical and mental state. As we grow older, so our brain and body does. The body’s capacity to heal and recuperate is slower when older. Cells mature and die but our body itself does not produce as many cells as possible to replace those which die. With this, brain processes are slower and bodily functions are less effective. These functions include metabolism, absorption and distribution of nutrients all over the body, and the conversion of unused fats into energy. These are only a few of course but their impact on weight and fitness is great that they have to be explained.

With metabolism slowing down, slower excretion of toxic elements may affect one’s health as wastes become poison to the body when not released right away. Nutrients are wasted since absorption through blood vessels and distribution through blood flow is not as efficient as when one is younger. Lastly, fat deposits are not utilized as energy when not converted. Cholesterol build up happens with this. Eventually, they clog blood vessels too which may cause stroke and heart related ailments.

This is why exercise, fitness, diet, and good nutrition are very important. We do not need to wait till we grow older to be concerned with these. We can start now.
