Traffic Value

I want to share something I am in the process of learning myself, so don't gloss over this article and you may save yourself some time.

We all have something to promote (or we wouldn't be here) and to accomplish that goal it should be obvious we need traffic to some online destination that benefits us.

The question is how valuable is the traffic we are getting?

We could just buy 100,000 hits to our website, but most of the traffic being sold is down at 1 on the 1-10 scale.

We could participate in traffic exchanges or safelists, but then we would be lucky to raise that to a 2 or 3 level.

If you have your own blog and have spent effort to make it even slightly popular, you can get that level in the upper half, but probably have fewer actual visitors, which in my opinion would be a good thing. Quality counts, right?

What I am beginning to realize is, it's more about quality than quantity. So if your own blog supplies that, how about your own authority website?

I saw tons of promotions about starting membership websites and I always thought they were just trying to sell me something. Of course they all pitched the $39 a month income from hundreds of members to make a small fortune, but I didn't think I could ever find anyone to pay me anything!

This all stewed in my pressure cooker brain for a few months, then I hit on an idea. To satisfy my own agenda, I recently figured out a way I could get Splash Pages I could create myself for free that rivaled competitive offers for $47 and more. Then I thought maybe others would like to know how to do this, so I started a 25 cent a month membership website to teach it.

Now it's a couple of months later, and I am wondering why I didn't try this sooner???

It's not really that hard. I set up a WordPress blog and purchased a plugin that turned it into a membership site. Yes it took me a couple of weeks to get everything working right, but there was plenty of help available on the plugin website. No I am not going to get rich from 25 cents a month membership fees, but the thing most people don't realize is I am getting people who consider me an authority to look at my examples, which are ads for my other opportunities.

Which would you rather have, someone see your Splash Page because they are surfing for credits to have theirs shown, or someone who is studying your examples so they can learn how to do it themselves? It puts them in an entirely different frame of mind and gives them a much more beneficial attitude.

Think about that for a while.
