The News about Social media, along with free ads and a free business directory
Just a few months ago the face of Social Media stalled with doubt from the repercussions that faced this generation’s industry. After heated debates as to whether free ads chase consumers away from online sites that use them; or if they cost consumers to negotiate more towards the free business directory that can be found in most homes, it seems only time will tell.
In the meantime as technology changes users keep growing. It is estimated that more than $540 billion will be spent on this holiday season alone as the economy continues to improve. Even unemployment figures have dropped to the lowest since President Obama’s election.
The social media revolution might have grown in 2012, but many believe free ads will continue to be a source of annoyance for most website visitors. Is there really anyone who enjoys all those annoying ads? Now that online business is trying to regroup, from the latest disaster of the newest algorithms that changed rankings once again perhaps everyone will go back to the free business directory, where we can decide what ads we want to select.
For a few years many believed that computers would one day help people feel more connected, closer to one another, regardless of how many miles apart they were located. Instead people began spending more time in front of the computers than talking with one another or watching television combined. As spending in online stores reaches historical volumes we can begin to wonder if holidays will be spent in front of the computer. In fact, let’s face it technology may one day have robots doing everything for us and we will only be able to speak to robots.
At first people were excited by the invention of the telephone. Then they became annoyed by the free business directory, growing thicker and more abundant annually, that came every year from the local telephone company. Then people were annoyed, well we are still annoyed, by the free ad that can be found on almost every single website. For now people realize that in some respects social media marketing has driven people even farther from online shopping. So whether it is the free business directory; that free ad; or social media marketing the facts are that no one wants advertisements, even necessary ones.
