How retailers can profit from a traffic exchange

It is no secret that retailers of products/services that are not related to internet marketers services like an affiliate program, traffic generation, etc. have little conversion from promoting their site in traffic exchanges.

However there are exceptions to this rule. I.e. surf-bar-traffic which is a TE running on the Ventrino script has the option to add text ads and banner ads in different sizes. These are displayed outside TEs on several blogs and websites of which several have nothing to do with internet marketing and where you reach a large audience. Personal I think the possibility to have a surf exchange and a banner and text exchange at the same is one of the benefits of the Ventrino script.

How ever not all owners of a Ventrino based exchanges have other sites to display their ads and banners from their surf exchange on. Surf-bar-traffic does, even in the Netherlands where i own a directory and a start page service. On an international level I own a pagerank checker, several blogs and a shopping directory which is currently being rebuilt. On all I display ads and banner blocks of my traffic exchange.

This is how owners of a business not related to internet marketing can benefit  from a TE with a minimum of surfing or cost. On SBT we have in-house promos where you either earn extra banner impression for surfing or text link impressions. It is mandatory to have 1 site in the surf rotation and to assign credits to it. If your own business is not really suited to promote in TEs simply promote another i.e. your APSense affiliate url. Free members must surf to earn credits. Upgraded members do not need to surf and can also add more sites, banners and text links in the system. As an upgraded member once your banner ads and text links are in you basically can forget about it.

So how does the word exchange fit in here? For the larger part it applies for free members for the surfing part. By placing SBT banners or text ads on your own site you earn extra credits. However this is not mandatory.
